Vascular Lab At Vascular & General Surgical Consultants, we offer a state-of-the-art vascular laboratory for diagnostic testing. In the lab, we use non-invasive diagnostic measures to determine the patient’s diagnoses, extent of disease and our recommended treatment options. Vascular studies are performed using the most advanced equipment available. The studies are all painless; we do not use needles or injectable dyes during the diagnostic procedures. Ultrasound is used to take images of veins and arteries, allowing the physicians to view inside the vessels. With any ultrasound study, a gel is first applied to the skin, which helps transmit the ultrasound waves. A transducer (hand-held device) is guided over the skin surface and transmits images to a screen for the technician and physician to view.
